In their thrilling last game in the elimination round of the 2024 Delta Cup Inter Municipalities-Cities, Ing Bayung Mexico team, proudly supported by Municipal Mayor Rodencio “Ruding” S. Gonzales, emerged victorious in a contested match against I Love San Simon. With a final score of 85-80, Mexico secured a crucial win, granting them a twice-to-beat advantage as they moved onto the second round elimination.
The game showcased great performances from key players Barry Lacap and Reden Llantos, tallying 24 points apiece. Lacap’s contribution earned him the best player of the game title, highlighting his crucial role in Mexico’s win. Additionally, Gerald Nacpil added 13 points to the team’s total score.
From the opening period, the match was fiercely competitive, with both teams trading baskets and momentum swings throughout the first two quarters. However, it was in the fourth quarter that Mexico found their stride, seizing control of the game and establishing a commanding 80-64 lead at the 5:30 mark of the said period.
Despite facing adversity in the form of Ckle Perez’s ejection following a disqualifying foul on San Simon’s Dungo, Mexico displayed remarkable resilience and composure, stopping San Simon’s attempts to stage a late-game comeback. With their poise and determination evident, Mexico successfully defended their lead, clinching the victory and improving their elimination round record to 6-4.
