BARANGAY COUNCILOR MAYA PADRE SWORN IN AS ACTING BARANGAY CAPTAIN OF LAGUNDI

Barangay Councilor Maya M. Padre officially assumed her new role as Acting Barangay Captain of Barangay Lagundi after taking her oath of office before Mayor Ruding Santos Gonzales on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the Mayor’s Office.
The appointment comes after the Office of the Ombudsman imposed a six-month preventive suspension on incumbent Barangay Captain Alfredo S. David. Following existing laws on local governance, the first-ranking barangay councilor automatically steps in as officer-in-charge during the period of suspension.
The oath-taking was witnessed by Ms. Consesa M. Novio, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) of Mexico; Vice-Mayor Doc Pangan; Municipal Councilor Allaine Ramos; and Municipal Administrator Engr. Nestor S. Pineda, along with the family of Acting Captain Padre and members of the Barangay Lagundi Council.
In her brief message, Padre expressed her commitment to continue the delivery of essential services, with a particular focus on public health, safety, and community welfare. Mayor Gonzales extended his full support to the new acting barangay leader, emphasizing the importance of continuity in local governance and public service.
The Municipal Government of Mexico reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and service amid leadership transitions in its barangays.
