COORDINATION MEETING HELD FOR PROPOSED NLEX MEXICO INTERCHANGE RECONFIGURATION PROJECT

Municipal Mayor Rodencio “Ruding” S. Gonzales, together with Vice Mayor Dr. Jonathan R. Pangan, Councilor Engr. Tristar Sotto, and Councilor Vince Balajadia, led a coordination meeting on Thursday, August 6, 2026, held at the Municipal Hall of the Municipality of Mexico Pampanga, to discuss the proposed NLEX Mexico Interchange Reconfiguration Project.

Initiated by the Municipal Government of Mexico under the leadership of Mayor Ruding with the support of Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice Mayor Doc Pangan, the meeting gathered key government agencies, private sector representatives, and other stakeholders to assess the project’s current status, address concerns, and determine the necessary steps toward its successful implementation. The proposed project aims to improve traffic safety, ease congestion, enhance mobility, and further strengthen the municipality’s economic growth through better infrastructure and connectivity.

Mayor Ruding emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration among national government agencies, the private sector, and the local government to ensure that the proposed project is carried out with transparency, proper planning, and the best interests of the people of Mexico as the top priority. He likewise reaffirmed the Municipal Government’s commitment to pursuing infrastructure initiatives that will bring lasting benefits to present and future generations of Mexicanos.

Former House Senior Deputy Speaker and Former Congressman Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. also attended the meeting and shared his insights on the proposed project, reaffirming his continued support for infrastructure initiatives that will improve road connectivity, public safety, and economic opportunities for the Municipality of Mexico.

Representing NLEX Corporation was Ms. Jennifer Jane T. Go, Vice President for Asset Management, who led the company’s delegation during the meeting. Representatives from the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Pampanga Business Circle (PBC), affected property owners, and other stakeholders also participated in the discussions to ensure that all concerns and recommendations were properly considered.

Punong Barangay Peter Siron of Barangay Camuning and Punong Barangay Gerard Santos of Barangay Panipuan likewise attended the meeting, as portions of the proposed interchange reconfiguration are situated within their respective barangays.

Also present were Architect Nestor S. Mangio, President and Chief Executive Officer of Central Country Estate, Inc.; Board Member Christian Halili; Executive Assistant and Former Municipal Councilor Allan Onofre; Municipal Administrator Engr. Nestor Pineda; and Municipal Engineer Engr. Ardel Nucup, all of whom contributed to the discussions.

Although she was unable to attend the meeting, Pampanga Third District Representative Mica Gonzales conveyed her support for the proposed NLEX Mexico Interchange Reconfiguration Project, recognizing its significance in improving traffic flow, enhancing road safety, and promoting economic development in the municipality.

Through initiatives such as this, Mayor Ruding continues to strengthen partnerships with national government agencies and the private sector, reflecting the Municipal Government of Mexico’s commitment to responsive, transparent, and forward-looking governance in pursuit of sustainable progress for every Mexicano.
