REP. MICA GONZALES PUSHES MULTI-AGENCY STRATEGY TO SECURE SAFETY IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Following a tragic spike in school stabbings and a fatal shooting this June, Pampanga 3rd District Representative Alyssa Michaela “Mica” M. Gonzales has filed House Resolution No. 1145 to establish an immediate, unified security shield around public schools.

The resolution strongly urges the DILG to deploy Barangay Tanods to all public elementary and secondary schools to address a critical shortage of campus security guards.

Rep. Gonzales firmly emphasizes that halting campus violence demands an unyielding, unified defense, highlighting that protecting students requires a strict multi-agency collaboration.

Under this coordinated shield, the DILG and LGUs will immediately mobilize and deploy local Tanods during school hours, while the Philippine National Police (PNP) steps in to arm these watchmen with critical security and first-response training. Simultaneously, the Department of Education (DepEd) and local Barangay Councils will jointly enforce rigorous entry screening protocols at school gates, creating an impenetrable perimeter that systematically blocks weapons from ever entering campuses.

“Long-term reforms are vital, but our children need a physical shield today,” Rep. Gonzales said. “By linking the DILG, DepEd, the PNP, and local communities, we can build a seamless protective perimeter around our youth.”
