MORE THAN 300 MEXICANOS RECEIVE SOCIAL PENSION AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

A total of 314 Mexicano beneficiaries received financial aid through two payout programs conducted today in the Municipality of Mexico.

• 104 senior Mexicanos received ₱6,000 each under the Social Pension Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. The amount covers the second and third quarters of the year.

• 210 Mexicanos received financial assistance from the Local Government of Mexico for medical and burial expenses.

Municipal Mayor Rodencio “Ruding” S. Gonzales attended the payouts with Councilor Engr. Tristar Sotto, representatives from DSWD, and personnel from the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs.

Mayor Ruding thanked DSWD Region III, led by Regional Director Venus F. Rebuldela, for its continued assistance to senior citizens. He also assured the beneficiaries that the local government, together with Vice Mayor Dr. Jonathan R. Pangan and the Sangguniang Bayan, will continue developing programs that address the needs of senior Mexicanos.

According to DSWD, qualified Social Pension beneficiaries were identified through the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System. Senior citizens who already receive a pension from another government agency cannot qualify for the program.

Mayor Ruding said the local government is studying additional assistance for senior citizens who are not covered by the Social Pension Program, especially those affected by the recent severe weather.

The LGU-funded financial assistance program reflects the municipal government’s commitment to return public funds to the people through services that directly address medical, burial, and other urgent needs.

“Every peso from the municipal treasury must benefit the Mexicano people through programs that improve their daily lives,” Mayor Ruding said.

The OSCA, led by Mr. Fernando Vital, facilitated the Social Pension payout. The Municipal Treasurer’s Office, headed by Municipal Treasurer Leilanie Canlas, worked with the Office of the Municipal Mayor to ensure the orderly distribution of assistance.

Through responsible use of public funds and close coordination with national agencies, the Local Government of Mexico will continue serving families, senior citizens, and every Mexicano who needs help.
